- Goldmann equation
-
(= Goldmann constant field equation)Equation that describes the electrical potential across a membrane in terms of the distributions and relative permeabilities of the main permeant ions (typically sodium, potassium and chloride). Assumes that the electrical field across the membrane is constant, and that there are no active transport processes; but nonetheless gives a reasonable approximation to ‘real’ membranes.
